Kinderdijk, The Netherlands | Travel

20170823_14130020170823_14483320170823_14564820170823_15101820170823_15231320170823_153805

Yes, that were a lot of windmills! In the end of the summer, I visited Kinderdijk as a surprise for my mothers birthday. Kinderdijk is a small village in the Netherlands, near Rotterdam. 19 windmills were built there in 1740 to drain the polder, and they are the largest group of old windmills in the Netherlands. They also are on the UNESCO world heritage list and a well-known Dutch attraction.

I do live in the Netherlands, but I’ve never visited it before. It was really nice! It was a beautiful warm sunny day, and the area is perfect for hikes and bike rides. The area is free to visit, but for a small price, it is possible to see the mills from the inside. We bought tickets and it is fascinating to see how the people lived back in the days there! From the outside, the mills don’t look that big, but it is actually quite big! Sometimes they even lived there with 10 people!

We also learned some more about how The Netherlands maintains all the water now, and back in the days. It’s an amazing system and I am just so proud of my country. It’s fascinating to hear about and to realize how good we are with water. Although I’m still quite happy I don’t live in the part where the land is lower than the land, because it would just frighten me as I’m so bad at swimming haha. But still really proud!

Hope you enjoyed it, and maybe even want to visit Kinderdijk yourself. If you want to, you can look all the information on how to get there here xxx

OMG first off: Yesterday was my one-year blogging anniversary. I totally forgot about it, to be honest, the year has gone by so fast. One year ago, I never expected my blog to be like this. I’m so thankful for all the people that follow me and read my blog, thank you so much!

About the outfit, well college has started, autumn is coming (my favorite season), and around this time I just love to wear comfy big soft sweaters. It’s also still that time of the year that by noon it is just way too warm for a sweater, but oh well at least it’s comfy. So when I saw this sweater at Bershka I just had to get it.  First I saw the pink one, and a friend of mine got the yellow one, and I loved the color so I decided to get both. For me the yellow also just screams autumn, I love it. And it is so big, soft and warm!

For the ultimate comfortable outfit, leggings are the best, but to make it a bit more like I’m not wearing my pj’s, I combined it with this black jeans with gaps at the knees from Primark. The black All Stars with studs are from Converse.  I really like the combination with high All Stars with pants though, need to wear that more often!

I’m really happy with my new sweater(s), they are perfect to wear to early lectures when you just want to lay in your bed, cause they are so comfy!

Thank you all for reading, and again for supporting me and my blog for one year now. I just still can’t believe, it doesn’t feel like a year! I guess time flies when you’re having fun blogging?

Have a lovely day xxx

The Czech Republic | Travel Diary

This summer, I’ve visited the Czech Republic. Two weeks long, we’ve explored this beautiful country. Prague is, of course, the capital, but there is much more to do and see besides that! Especially if you love nature, it is perfect to take long walks through the woods and visit lots of castle ruins.

Bohemian Paradise

Our accomodation was really close to the bohemian paradise, so we’ve spended a few days hiking there. It is really big, and there is lots so see. The landscape is mostly hills, sometimes harder to walk, but most of the times it’s more flat and easy to walk. Besides these extraordinary looking rocks, there are also loads of beautiful castle ruins!

Castle on the hill

The Czech Republic is rich of castle ruins. And they are all so worth visiting. Most of them are on top of a hill, so you have to climb, but the castle itself and the view is so beautiful. We visited two. The first one one the photo was quite big and you could visit all the towers. It reminded me of Rapunzel! The other castle on the picture was really a ruin, the two towers were the only thing left! For both castles we had to pay entrance, but it was around 2 or 3 euro, really cheap!

Prague

The capital Prague is of course worth the visit. I’ve visited it last year with friends, and it was so fun to explore the city again! It is by far one of my favorite European cities. There is so much to do and to see and the ambiance is so relaxed.  I actually didn’t take much photos, so if you want to see more you can check out my blogpost about Prague from last year!

Highest mountain of the Czech Republic

The highest mountain of the Czech Republic is in the north of the country. It is 1603 meters high (and yes we’ve walked all of it, it was hard but I was really proud we made it) and on top of it there is the border with Poland. So on the one side you see Poland and on the other you see the Czech Republic!

These were defintely the highlights of this trip. But we also just relaxed at the pool, eat delicous food and our car decided to stop working. Gladly they managed to repair it, what was really hard because they barely speak English haha. But I had a great time there.

Thank you for visiting xxx

Denim skirt | OOTD

20170810_142221_00120170810_142224_00120170810_142230_00120170810_14513420170810_152617

It’s been so long since I posted something, I am so sorry. I was busy with working, didn’t really feel like blogging and I also was on vacation with my parents for two weeks. But now I’m back and I’ve finally found the time to blog.

I would like to show you one of my favourite outfits I’ve worn this vacation in the Czech Republic. This day we were visiting the capital Prague.

It was really warm that day, so I was really happy that I chose for my denim skirt. After my little trip to Budapest, I fell in love with my denim dress and decided I needed a skirt too. It’s so comfortable, and as I said in this post too, I never like to wear summer beach clothes in a city, I just don’t feel that’s right, even if it’s boiling hot. The beautiful denim skirt is from Bershka, and I believe it was around 20 euro, so that’s really affordable.

The cute pink top is from H&M, I bought it on sale though, so it was around 7 euro. It’s a bit cropped and fits perfectly with the skirt. I really like the top.

For shoes, I chose my silver Birkenstocks. I thought they went really well with the combination, and they are very comfortable. Sadly they were still quite new, so they gave me some blisters…

The small bag is from Primark, it is so perfect I bring it to almost every occasion where I need a small bag. It looks really small, but it fits a lot.

So that is the outfit. I am planning to write a little blog about my vacation in the Czech Republic, so stay tuned for that.

Have a nice day xxx

Where to eat: Budapest | Best(ies) Lunch

20170611_200842

Recently I visited the lovely city Budapest, Hungary with my best friend. A while ago, I posted this post, where I came with the idea to try out new restaurants and write about it. Of course, we did that in Budapest too!

4bro downtown

20170611_13445520170611_134701.jpg20170611_134721

The first restaurant where we ate is called 4bro downtown, after looking it up on the internet I discovered it is actually a night club too. Our hostel was across of a little street where this place was. Actually, the whole street was full of cute places like this!

We both ordered the club sandwich, we just came out of the plane and were really hungry. It was really good, the sandwich was quite big and filled with vegetables, egg, and chicken. Very tasty! The sandwich came with these tasty potato fries, whom also was really good.  The price for the sandwich was alright, but the rest of the food was quite expensive for Budapest I think.

The ambiance at 4bro downtown was also great, the only disadvantage was that the music was really loud. We just couldn’t hear each other talking, what was quite annoying. But we had a great lunch!

0.75 bar & bistro

20170611_20170320170611_20240920170611_20363920170611_21193120170611_200026

In the evening we had dinner at this place called 0.75 bar & bistro, where they mostly served tapas and wine. The restaurant was on the square where the beautiful St Stefanus Basilica was.

We both didn’t order tapas, I went for the goulash soup and Gaby ordered a salad. My goulash was really nice, I loved it! Also, I had this really tasty drink, elderflower lemonade, it was so good! Afterwards, we had some cocktails, Gaby had a mojito and I had a watermelon cocktail. I really enjoyed this dinner.

The restaurant was nice, they had good food and drinks. Also the staff was alright, something went wrong with our order but eventually they fixed it!

Trattoria Gozsdu

20170613_20400420170613_211047IMG-20170620-WA0007

Our last dinner we ate at an Italian restaurant, in the same cute street as the 4bro downtown.

The restaurant was really nice, and they had this beautiful quote on the wall saying: “If life hands you lemons, make limoncello”. That’s the spirit!

Gaby ordered this lovely pasta, and I went for the pizza. And it was so good! They also had a wide choice of wines, I ordered a Hugo and got a really nice looking glass with lemon and mint leaves.

I really liked this restaurant. The food, staff, and ambiance were amazing!

Actually, I like all the places where we ate! The only disadvantage of eating in Budapest, what I also experienced when I was visiting Prague last year, is that they include the service cost in the bill. They add 20% of the bill to it. Mostly it isn’t a lot, but I find it quite annoying that they push me to pay a service cost and that I can’t choose for myself if I want to give them a tip or not. But that’s all :). It was funny though, Gaby and I calculated the bill of the last restaurant and came to the conclusion that we had the exact amount of Hungarian money left to pay it in cash, and then there was the extra service cost. Oh well.

We had a great time and some love dinners. If you’re in doubt to visit Budapest, it is totally worth it!

Have a lovely day! xx

Gap Year Update #2

GAP YEAR | Experience & What to do

GAP YEAR UPDATE + THANK YOU!

It’s almost a year ago that I found out I wasn’t accepted at the school that I wanted to go to. I remember I was a bit sad, but also happy that I had some more free time, but mostly I was scared. Because not going to college, would mean I had a gap year. It freaked me out not knowing what I had to do with my life. There were some things I wanted to do, but I didn’t know how. Eventually, now I think I made some great decisions. I grew and had the time of my life.

One of those great decisions is, of course, starting this blog. I am so happy that I had the courage to write about my life. In the beginning, this blog was mostly for myself, a space where I could write about my feelings and my ideas for this gap year. Just as my first blog post, I immediately throw in the fact I have a gap year. Blogging was all new to me, and when I look back now at my posts from a year ago, it is so different from what I post now. My blog went from bucket lists, get to know me’s to MOTD’s, OOTD’s and travel diaries. I remember I was so happy when my blog hit the 100 followers! Now, my blog is still growing and growing. It already hit the 400 followers! Thank you all so much for all the love! I never expected my blog to be this big, and I am really proud that I achieved this. Even though my gap year is almost over, I will keep blogging. I admit I barely post sometimes because I am not feeling like writing, but I think that’s normal. I think it’s better to write when you want to, instead of doing it because it’s required. The best posts are the ones you put the love in.

Even though I had the time of my life this year, I will be talking about that later, it wasn’t the easiest. I had to find what I wanted to study next year, how to fill my free time, think about doing something special. There was so much to do and think about. I made some “gap year resolutions”, all things I would like to do. I remember I wanted to learn a language, a skill, do volunteer work, travel the world and more. Trust me, it looks like you have loads of time, but eventually, you don’t. I made the decision to travel, but of course, I needed money for that so I worked more. Luckily I got the chance to work more at my part time supermarket job, and save all the money I needed. I even had the opportunity to take two months off to leave for Asia!

I also come across a study I wanted to follow, Optometry. I had to make an entrance examination. And again, they only accepted around 100 people. Luckily I am one of them, what means I am finally going to college in September! I’m very excited to learn again.

The gap year was also full of learning. I had to learn to make decisions, to get responsible, more confident and do things on my own. Even though I never mentioned it on my blog, because I didn’t feel the need to throw it out on the internet, I had to go through a few setbacks as a breakup of a 2.5 years long relationship and, not going backpacking with my best friend.  When I look back, I am really happy both things happened. Especially the breakup, because I wasn’t happy and I became myself again. It’s weird how one person can change you, but I am so happy I am myself again. Asia definitely helped me with it. I finally saw that that person I used to be 2.5 years long, wasn’t me.

My backpack adventure to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia is the other amazing decision I made this year. I had the best time there, saw so many beautiful views, met amazing and lovely people who will stay in my memory for ever, I saw the world from another perspective and I experienced so many new things. I could keep talking about my travels, but I already posted loads about it! If you want to read it, the start of all my diaries is from this post. You can read the recap here. There is also a film on it’s way, but it’s so much to edit, and the motivation is not really here yet. Have to work on that!

Yes, I am thankful for all the opportunities I had this gap year. I saw amazing places as, London, Bangkok, Hanoi, Angkor Wat, Berlin and Budapest. I became myself again. And I had so much fun already blogging, and there is still loads to come! If you’re in doubt to take a gap year, do it, it’s amazing. It was the best decison for me.

KIKO Eyeshadows | Shoplog

IMG_5826.JPG

Oops, I did it again…

The sale is everywhere, and when I saw all the discount on eyeshadows at KIKO, I just had to get some. For a while now I was thinking about buying some more colorful colors, as I mostly only own basic nude colors. So when I saw all these colors at KIKO, I decided to buy a few. I don’t know the exact prices anymore, but they were all between €2 and €4!

This is such a beautiful blue, it’s the perfect color for a unicorn or mermaid inspired look. Well, that is also quite the reason why I bought these, for me “weird colors”. This is the color 29 from the smart eyeshadow line.

Normally, green is not really my color. But this green is so glowy! This is also really a unicorn green. It reminds me of the green that’s in de Unicorn Highlighter! This is color 84 from the High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow line. It is already pigmented, used dry. But when you use it wet, it gets more pigmented and also a beautiful glow.

I couldn’t resist this lovely pink color. It’s perfect for a romantic all pink makeup look! It’s color 18 from the smart eyeshadow line.

How beautiful is this eyeshadow! Look at the pattern, the color, the glitters, the glow. I love it so much, this is definitely my favorite purchase! It’s color 224 from the Water Eyeshadow line.

As last I got this beautiful glittery blue eyeshadow stick. Does it stand out that I only have bought glitter eyeshadows? It’s really pigmented. It’s color 112 from the Eyetech Look Eyeshadow line. Isn’t KIKO so original with their names for the colors?

I’m really happy with all my new eyeshadow colors, and also really excited to play with them! Can’t wait to share some new colorful looks with you!
