Adíos, voy a España (bijna!!!)

* First: Hi everyone. Long time no see. It’s been a long time since I wrote a blog post. I just don’t have the time and the need anymore to write blogs about makeup. I’m probably not going to start again and I want to use my blog now to update my family and friends about my travels to Spain for my study in Dutch. *

(Real Alcazar, Sevilla, Spanje)

Groetjes!! xxx

2018

What a year, I’ve barely been here on the blog, but I still want to do a little recap of my year! As I said in my 2017 post, I still love memories and throwbacks.

As for this year, I turned 20 and I celebrated it in my hometown with my best friends. I was really really busy with college (I barely made it to the second year, so that was a bit stressing). And I changed jobs! I’m working as an optician now. Compared to 2017, I didn’t have the time to travel as much. This year I visited Ljubljana, Slovenia in February and it was really cold. In summer I went to Slovenia again, it’s such a beautiful country! Also, I visited Croatia summer and went to some festivals. And I saw a few of my favorite artists live, as Guns and Roses, The Script, The Vamps, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ed Sheeran and lots of Dutch singers!

This year was a good one, I’ve had a lot of fun times with my friends and family and I’m looking forward to making much more in 2019!

Just as last year, I will discuss my 2018 New Years Resolutions and make new ones for 2019!

2018 New Years Resolutions

  1. Eat less soup, try a properly cooked meal – I achieved this one! I started cooking more with friends, and like doing it!
  2. Pass all the exams and make it to the second year – Yes!!
  3. Travel loads if possible – Well, not as much as I want to, but as much as possible yes.

2019 New Years Resolutions

  1. Keep following the CG-methode for my curls
  2. Have fun!!

I wish you all a happy new year and a good 2019 with lots of fun and love!

xoxo

Curly Hair Journey, The Beginning | April 2018

For a while now, I’ve been trying to deal with my hair. I grew it really really long and tried not to damage it with heat. I tried to take care of it very gently by washing it only once a week, only brushing it when I was going to wash it, and always braid it before I’d sleep. It worked good, but my hair was just really long, and wavy. It also was a bit frizzy, and I knew my hair was sort of curly, but it was just too hard to handle. First of because it was so long, and second because I just did not know how to deal with curly hair. Eventually, a co-worker (who has the most amazing curls) told me her curly hair routine. So I tried it, and my hair curled! I loved it. (and sorry for the weird pics, but my hair was just to long to fit on a normal selfie)

In November (2017), I decided to chop 10 cm of my hair. I was done with it, but too afraid to cut it short. Nobody noticed my hair was shorter tho, only it curled more and looked healtier. I got a lot of positive reactions, and I loved my ‘short’ and curly hair too. That was when I decided that I wanted to chop off more in spring/ summer. (on the left: my hair right after I came back from the hairdresser, on the right: my hair when I did it myself)

So last week, I decided to chop off 30 cm so I could donate my hair. I love the length of my hair know! It is just, that it is not as curly as I expected it to be. I feel like my hair was more curly when it was longer. My routine is: washing it with my Elvive Keratin Shampoo, using the Elvive Keratin conditioner, rinsing that out with cold water, scrunging my hair, drying it with a t-shirt, putting in mouse and curl cream and at last drying it with the diffuser. It gave curls and volume, but also quite a lot of frizz. (on the left: my hair right after the chop. My hairdresser always puts in loads of product, so it wasn’t frizzy at all, but I just don’t like the feeling of having that much product in my hair, it feels so greasy. On the right: my hair when I do it myself, also with a little bun what is not showing in the pic)

For a while, I was reading about the curly girl method, where you won’t use products with sulfates, silicones, alcohol, and try to use as less heat on your hair as possible. Today April 30th, 2018, is the day I started my own ‘natural curly hair journey’. This morning I went to the store to buy sulfate free shampoo, silicone free conditioner and a silicone free gel. The gel because I want to try a new routine I saw a Youtuber doing. I washed my hair for the last time with a sulfate shampoo to rinse out all the silicones in my hair, drained my hair in the silicone free conditioner, rinsed that out with cold water and scrunged in the gel on soaking wet hair. After that, I scrunged my hair a bit more and dried it with a t-shirt. It was also the first time I let my hair air dry.

I am really content with the result. My hair feels softer, is less frizzy and I can use fewer products. For the curls, I feel like my curls look quite the same, only that it curls maybe a bit more now. Not sure tho. I’m definitely going to continue with this routine/method. For now, I will keep using only conditioner and gel, but maybe in a while, I will try a silicone free mouse and cream. Of course, I will write about that 🙂

This is only the beginning of my ‘curly hair journey’ as the Youtubers call it. I am excited to take you with me! And I promise I won’t disappear again for another five months haha. Also, I want to capture my hair journey on my makeup instagram: @lifeasdaisyblog .  (If you want to see more outfit pics, follow my personal instagram: @daisyvdplas )

Thank you so much for ready, have a lovely day!

Lots of love xxx

Honey, Honey | OOTD

OMG, long time no see! It’s been almost half a year since I posted a blog post. I was just soooo busy, and did not have any inspiration. But now I am back!

Since it’s spring, we all can finally wear skirts and t-shirts again! I love that it’s getting warmer. Missed it so much!

So this fun Honey shirt, I found it on AliExpress. It was really cheap, and got delivered very quickly too! You can find it online here.

The leather jacket is from Primark. I love how it is very simple. And also, Primark is really inexpensive! I combined it with the outfit to make it a bit more casual.

My denim skirt is from Bershka. I wore it in a few other outfit posts, but it’s just my only and go to denim skirt. It fits with almost everything. And I just love denim skirts, they are so timeless.

At last, the white All Stars are from Converse. I’m wondering how long they will stay white haha. Oh and the sunnies are also from Primark, they are kind of a look a like from the Ray Bans (those are definitely on my wish list omg)

It is good to be back at blogging again. Hopefully I won’t be gone for another six months. I have to say, my interest changed a little. I am more into clothes, and less into makeup. So there will probably be more ootd’s on my blog instead of motd’s. But if I ever feel like experimenting with my makeup, it will be on the blog! Also, today I stared the curly girl methode. I want to write a special post about that, so I will be writing about that too!

Thank you very much for reading, have a lovely day!

Pantalon & Flared Sleeves | OOTD

20171028_150751.jpg20171028_150541.jpg20171028_150427.jpg20171028_150528.jpg

Okay how cute is that background! Loving all the pink and purple vibes.

This outfit looks quite fancy but is actually really comfortable. The black and white striped pants feel just like you’re wearing pyjama pants, but it looks like you put a lot of effort into your outfit. I purchased it at Pull&Bear, but Berschka also sells these kinds of pants.

The bordeaux coloured top with flared sleeves is from Primark. It also has a little turtleneck. This shirt is also really comfortable, and in my opinion does look really cute in combination with the pants. I tucked them all the way in my pants by the way.

The cut-out boots are from van Haren. Can be quite cold, but I wear a skin coloured panty most of the time when I wear these shoes.

And that’s the outfit! Quite fancy, but comfortable.

Have a nice day xxx

Jeans Jacket | Autumn OOTD

It’s been so long since I shared a post, omg. I’m really busy with college at the moment. Having exams in a week, and I found a place to live in Utrecht so I’m going to move too! So exciting!

A while ago I wandered around in Utrecht with my friends, where we made this pictures. I just love my denim jacket so much! Its really warm, and perfect for autumn. Bought it at Primark for only 30 euros, and wearing is almost everyday since!

Underneath I’m wearing a simple outfit. The high waisted jeans are from H&M and the grey sweater is also from Primark, and I tucked it in my jeans a bit.

To make the outfit extra autumny (that’s probably not a word), I chose to also wear this floppy head from Forever21.

For shoes I wore some cut-out boots from van Haren. They are very comfortable. Little trick, it can be quite cold and annoying to wear these with bare feet, and socks are visible, so skin colored thights are perfect to wear in these shoes!

Well, that’s it! A really simple outfit, but very comfortable and in my opinion perfect for autumn.

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely day xxx

Denim Overalls |OOTD

IMG_5675IMG_5687IMG_5683IMG_5684IMG_5679IMG_5693IMG_5698

It’s been such a long time since I posted an outfit! This won’t be the last one, I promise. There are a few more on its way! As you can see, after two months traveling and making basic touristic travel pictures, my outfit posing skills still didn’t improve. The last photo proves the model life is not for me. Oh well…

In the Berlin Shoplog post, I already showed these lovely denim overalls from Primark. Aah, I love it so much. It’s so comfortable and in my opinion, it looks really cute and casual. As I may have mentioned before, I love comfortable and casual clothes. And if it looks nice, well that’s a great advantage.

I combined the denim overalls with a simple pinkish shirt from Bershka. It’s a crop top and a little bit wider, but long enough to fit in the overalls.

For shoes I chose for some black boots with a little heel from Van Haren, to make it a bit more feminine as the pants are quite baggy. Sneakers are also great, to make it extra casual.

My jewelry is all silver toned. Let’s start with the ears. In my, for you guys, left ear I’m wearing an interesting earring from Brandy Melville and a bali hoop that I bought in Cambodia. In the other ear, I’m wearing a ring with a little pendant and the one I got when my ears were pierced.

The necklace is from Tiffany’s & Co. The ring on the left hand was a present that I got in Hanoi, Vietnam for my birthday. The one, on the other hand, is from Swarovski, a present from my grandma for my 18th birthday.

And that’s the outfit! As the weather is getting better, it’s perfect for a spring or a not so hot summer day.

I will try to start blogging more again. I know I haven’t been that active the last 3 months, mostly because I just didn’t have any time. I want to start writing about makeup again, as I missed it so much! Blogposts are on its way 🙂

Thank you so much for visiting! Have a lovely day.

THREE THINGS ABOUT ME

  1. I have Indonesian roots. In fact I am an Indo, what means that I am Dutch and Indonesian. (Something with Indonesia being a colony of the Netherlands back in time, I believe it’s a black page in the Dutch History. A lot of Dutch people have Indonesian roots because of this, and are called Indos) I was born in the Netherlands, but my grandparents are from Java, Indonesia. Sadly, I can’t speak Bahasa Indonesia and I really would love to learn more about the Indonesian culture, as that’s a part of me. I feel more Dutch than Indonesian, but not 100% (well that’s logicial as I am not 100% of both descents)
  2. I love keeping memories of everything. I can’t let go of pictures. I also have those times when I keep a journal, especially when I’m travelling and I save everything! And then I mean EVERYTHING, receipts, maps, tickets, leaflets.
  3. I haven’t eating Mc Donalds in 2 years now. Since I saw these documentaires about how bad the food is, I quit eating it. I loved the chicken nuggets, but they had a weird taste sometimes. I just don’t believe it is real chicken haha, so for my own health I try not to eat Mc Donalds. ( I have to admit, I have failed 2 times, when I was really hungry and bought those 1 euro burgers, but ugh I expected it to taste better but nah, so not going to eat it anymore. Expect for the mcflurrys though, these are delicious haha!)

MY ANSWERS TO SARAH’S QUESTIONS:

1.If you were dropped on a new planet and you have seeds to grow one type of crop. Which vegetable would you hope it to be?

Probably courget. It’s my favorite vegetable and I add it to every pasta I make. When I was younger I didn’t like it, but when I was once eating at this Chinese wok restaurant I accidentally ate a piece of raw courget. (what is fine! It tastes very good, and it’s crunchy). Well I thought it was a piece of cucumber, but it wasn’t. Since then, I’ve been eating and loving it!

2.If you could create your own world to live in, how would it look like? (It can be as crazy as you’d want it to be)

People would be kinder, there would be peace, no one would make war or fights. The days would always be beautiful. There would be no global warming. The nature would be beautiful and wild, as it should. We wouldn’t destroy the earth.

3.If there is one thing you’d want to change about yourself, what would it be?

I would have no dark circles anymore under my eyes. Sadly they are genetic, and there is nothing I can do except for eating healty, try to get enough sleep and use concealer. I’m not as insecure about them as I used to be, but I still don’t like them.

4.What talent would you like to possess?

I would love to understand and speak the most important languages in the world, so that when I’m travelling they’d understand me and I understand the locals. Oh and not looking like an idiot while dancing would be great (the same goes for singing, I’m horrible)

5.What are your expectations for 2017?

To make beautiful memories and go see the world. Surprise me 2017.

MY FIVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU:

  1. What is your favorite destination that you’ve ever visited?
  2. If you could live anywhere, where would it be and what would your house/place look like?
  3. What would be your ultimate candy three-course dinner?
  4. Who is your celebrity crush?
  5. What would you do for a living, if you could be anything you wanted to be?
