Where to eat: Budapest | Best(ies) Lunch

20170611_200842

Recently I visited the lovely city Budapest, Hungary with my best friend. A while ago, I posted this post, where I came with the idea to try out new restaurants and write about it. Of course, we did that in Budapest too!

4bro downtown

20170611_13445520170611_134701.jpg20170611_134721

The first restaurant where we ate is called 4bro downtown, after looking it up on the internet I discovered it is actually a night club too. Our hostel was across of a little street where this place was. Actually, the whole street was full of cute places like this!

We both ordered the club sandwich, we just came out of the plane and were really hungry. It was really good, the sandwich was quite big and filled with vegetables, egg, and chicken. Very tasty! The sandwich came with these tasty potato fries, whom also was really good.  The price for the sandwich was alright, but the rest of the food was quite expensive for Budapest I think.

The ambiance at 4bro downtown was also great, the only disadvantage was that the music was really loud. We just couldn’t hear each other talking, what was quite annoying. But we had a great lunch!

0.75 bar & bistro

20170611_20170320170611_20240920170611_20363920170611_21193120170611_200026

In the evening we had dinner at this place called 0.75 bar & bistro, where they mostly served tapas and wine. The restaurant was on the square where the beautiful St Stefanus Basilica was.

We both didn’t order tapas, I went for the goulash soup and Gaby ordered a salad. My goulash was really nice, I loved it! Also, I had this really tasty drink, elderflower lemonade, it was so good! Afterwards, we had some cocktails, Gaby had a mojito and I had a watermelon cocktail. I really enjoyed this dinner.

The restaurant was nice, they had good food and drinks. Also the staff was alright, something went wrong with our order but eventually they fixed it!

Trattoria Gozsdu

Our last dinner we ate at an Italian restaurant, in the same cute street as the 4bro downtown.

The restaurant was really nice, and they had this beautiful quote on the wall saying: “If life hands you lemons, make limoncello”. That’s the spirit!

Gaby ordered this lovely pasta, and I went for the pizza. And it was so good! They also had a wide choice of wines, I ordered a Hugo and got a really nice looking glass with lemon and mint leaves.

I really liked this restaurant. The food, staff, and ambiance were amazing!

Actually, I like all the places where we ate! The only disadvantage of eating in Budapest, what I also experienced when I was visiting Prague last year, is that they include the service cost in the bill. They add 20% of the bill to it. Mostly it isn’t a lot, but I find it quite annoying that they push me to pay a service cost and that I can’t choose for myself if I want to give them a tip or not. But that’s all :). It was funny though, Gaby and I calculated the bill of the last restaurant and came to the conclusion that we had the exact amount of Hungarian money left to pay it in cash, and then there was the extra service cost. Oh well.

We had a great time and some love dinners. If you’re in doubt to visit Budapest, it is totally worth it!

Have a lovely day! xx

Gap Year Update #2

GAP YEAR | Experience & What to do

GAP YEAR UPDATE + THANK YOU!

It’s almost a year ago that I found out I wasn’t accepted at the school that I wanted to go to. I remember I was a bit sad, but also happy that I had some more free time, but mostly I was scared. Because not going to college, would mean I had a gap year. It freaked me out not knowing what I had to do with my life. There were some things I wanted to do, but I didn’t know how. Eventually, now I think I made some great decisions. I grew and had the time of my life.

One of those great decisions is, of course, starting this blog. I am so happy that I had the courage to write about my life. In the beginning, this blog was mostly for myself, a space where I could write about my feelings and my ideas for this gap year. Just as my first blog post, I immediately throw in the fact I have a gap year. Blogging was all new to me, and when I look back now at my posts from a year ago, it is so different from what I post now. My blog went from bucket lists, get to know me’s to MOTD’s, OOTD’s and travel diaries. I remember I was so happy when my blog hit the 100 followers! Now, my blog is still growing and growing. It already hit the 400 followers! Thank you all so much for all the love! I never expected my blog to be this big, and I am really proud that I achieved this. Even though my gap year is almost over, I will keep blogging. I admit I barely post sometimes because I am not feeling like writing, but I think that’s normal. I think it’s better to write when you want to, instead of doing it because it’s required. The best posts are the ones you put the love in.

Even though I had the time of my life this year, I will be talking about that later, it wasn’t the easiest. I had to find what I wanted to study next year, how to fill my free time, think about doing something special. There was so much to do and think about. I made some “gap year resolutions”, all things I would like to do. I remember I wanted to learn a language, a skill, do volunteer work, travel the world and more. Trust me, it looks like you have loads of time, but eventually, you don’t. I made the decision to travel, but of course, I needed money for that so I worked more. Luckily I got the chance to work more at my part time supermarket job, and save all the money I needed. I even had the opportunity to take two months off to leave for Asia!

I also come across a study I wanted to follow, Optometry. I had to make an entrance examination. And again, they only accepted around 100 people. Luckily I am one of them, what means I am finally going to college in September! I’m very excited to learn again.

The gap year was also full of learning. I had to learn to make decisions, to get responsible, more confident and do things on my own. Even though I never mentioned it on my blog, because I didn’t feel the need to throw it out on the internet, I had to go through a few setbacks as a breakup of a 2.5 years long relationship and, not going backpacking with my best friend.  When I look back, I am really happy both things happened. Especially the breakup, because I wasn’t happy and I became myself again. It’s weird how one person can change you, but I am so happy I am myself again. Asia definitely helped me with it. I finally saw that that person I used to be 2.5 years long, wasn’t me.

My backpack adventure to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia is the other amazing decision I made this year. I had the best time there, saw so many beautiful views, met amazing and lovely people who will stay in my memory for ever, I saw the world from another perspective and I experienced so many new things. I could keep talking about my travels, but I already posted loads about it! If you want to read it, the start of all my diaries is from this post. You can read the recap here. There is also a film on it’s way, but it’s so much to edit, and the motivation is not really here yet. Have to work on that!

Yes, I am thankful for all the opportunities I had this gap year. I saw amazing places as, London, Bangkok, Hanoi, Angkor Wat, Berlin and Budapest. I became myself again. And I had so much fun already blogging, and there is still loads to come! If you’re in doubt to take a gap year, do it, it’s amazing. It was the best decison for me.

KIKO Eyeshadows | Shoplog

IMG_5826.JPG

Oops, I did it again…

The sale is everywhere, and when I saw all the discount on eyeshadows at KIKO, I just had to get some. For a while now I was thinking about buying some more colorful colors, as I mostly only own basic nude colors. So when I saw all these colors at KIKO, I decided to buy a few. I don’t know the exact prices anymore, but they were all between €2 and €4!

This is such a beautiful blue, it’s the perfect color for a unicorn or mermaid inspired look. Well, that is also quite the reason why I bought these, for me “weird colors”. This is the color 29 from the smart eyeshadow line.

Normally, green is not really my color. But this green is so glowy! This is also really a unicorn green. It reminds me of the green that’s in de Unicorn Highlighter! This is color 84 from the High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow line. It is already pigmented, used dry. But when you use it wet, it gets more pigmented and also a beautiful glow.

I couldn’t resist this lovely pink color. It’s perfect for a romantic all pink makeup look! It’s color 18 from the smart eyeshadow line.

How beautiful is this eyeshadow! Look at the pattern, the color, the glitters, the glow. I love it so much, this is definitely my favorite purchase! It’s color 224 from the Water Eyeshadow line.

As last I got this beautiful glittery blue eyeshadow stick. Does it stand out that I only have bought glitter eyeshadows? It’s really pigmented. It’s color 112 from the Eyetech Look Eyeshadow line. Isn’t KIKO so original with their names for the colors?

I’m really happy with all my new eyeshadow colors, and also really excited to play with them! Can’t wait to share some new colorful looks with you!

Denim Dress 2.0 | OOTD

20170611_155110.jpg

In my Budapest travel diary, you could already see a glimpse of my favorite outfit there. Seriously, I wore this denim dress almost every day.  It’s so comfortable and not too warm when you’re doing a city trip at a sunny destination. Personally, I never like to wear short, revealing, beachy clothes in a city, even though it’s quite hot. So for me, this outfit was perfect!

20170613_13305120170613_14395820170613_16170520170613_144002

The second day I was wearing this outfit I combined it with a black t-shirt. Same shirt, different color. I couldn’t choose, so I bought both. Purchased them at Primark a year ago or so, for under €10 for sure.

The denim dress is from H&M, I bought it on sale last winter for only €20. But denim dresses are everywhere again, I saw a few that look the same at H&M, Berschka, and even Primark!

My shoes are from Nike, the Nike Tanjun in gray. My beloved backpack is from Fjallraven Känken. I bought it in Vietnam, and it’s my favorite backpack. Oh and they match my Nikes. The cat eye sunglasses are also from H&M, again bought on sale, but this time last summer.

I posted an outfit with this denim dress before. You can check it out here. But as I wore it in London in January, while it was freezing cold, I thought it would be fun to share a summer edition of it! Honestly, I like the summer version a bit more 🙂

Thank you so much for visiting, have a nice day!

Glowy bronzy look | MOTD

IMG_5783.JPG

When I think of a summer makeup look, I think about lot’s of color or a classy glowy bronze look. As I love natural colors more (and I also went for dinner with this look), I went for the glowy bronze look. Enjoy!

That’s the finished makeup look! If you want it more glowy and bronzed, you can, of course, use more highlighter and bronzer. I was already quite glowy because of the warmth, but I couldn’t resist using more highlighter. Oh well…

Hope you liked it and have a nice day!

Lots of love xxx

Foodstock Festival 2017| FOOD

Near the end of May (I know it’s really long ago), there was this foodtruck festival in my city, named Foodstock Festival. My friends and I went there, had lots of tasty food and chill in the sun. It was a really sunny day, and we had a great time! I filmed some and made a little “vlog” out of it to show the ambiance.

And a few photo’s of the food of course! You had to pay everything with special coins, those were quite expensive for what you get eventually. But oh well. I know of myself that I’m easily hungry again, so I had already a bit at home haha. I ended up eating mostly sweet desserts and coconut water. The ones in Asia are way better, but at least it was a coconut. I don’t know actually what was going on in my mind, but I decided to buy a glitter unicorn tattoo (that doesn’t even look like a unicorn) with my last coin…

It was a fun day. I had a great time with my friends and lots of delicious food to choose from. I would recommend everyone going to a food festival if there is one near you! Especially if you love food as much as me, it’s a dream come true!

Have a nice day everyone, thank you for visiting! xxx

Summer Flowers | OOTD

20170516_20222420170516_20222920170516_20223720170516_202202

Summer is finally here! For me, that means, light colored jeans, happy colors and lots of flowers. When it’s warmer, of course also skirts without tights, jumpsuits and summer dresses, but as summer in the Netherlands is always a little bit weird is this already a summer outfit for me.

This outfit was for the evening, drinking some cocktails with my friend. That’s why I added a leather jacket to the outfit. The leather jacket is from Primark.

The flower off the shoulder top is from Stradivarius. I bought it last year in the sale. But the off shoulder top is a huge trend again this year so you can find them in most stores! Even though they can be quite annoying to wear (the strap going up bleh), I really love them! They show a little skin, what makes it sexier than a normal t-shirt, but it’s not too naked.

The jeans is a light washed high waisted jeans from Berschka. I mostly only wear high waisted jeans. I like the fit, and as this shirt is a little shorter it’s perfect!

My beige sneakers with a little glitter detail in the back are from Reebok. The color and shape make them quite decent and not as sporty. I like it. 🙂

Hope you liked it! Have a nice and lovely day xxx

SRPRS ME: Budapest | Travel Diary

20170612_173259

It’s been a while but here it is, the SRPRS.ME TRAVEL DIARY. A while ago my best friend Gaby and I decided to do a srprsme trip again. SRPRS.ME is a Dutch travel agency where you can book surprise trips. We chose for the four day broke trip. We also did one last year, read that here.

So last week it was finally time to reveal our destination. We had to be at the airport at 6.30 AM on Sunday. It was so early, but totally worth it. I already had the feeling we would go to Budapest, and I was really happy that I was right haha

It was only a one and a half hour flight, so we had a full first day in Budapest. After finding our hostel we went for a late lunch. We both a club sandwich and it was so good. After lunch we just wandered around a bit through the Pest side of the city. We saw already lots of beautiful buildings. What a beautiful city! We ended up having dinner close to the big basilica, where we also had some tasty cocktails.

It was a beautiful sunny day again and we decided to go to the famous thermal bath house.  It was a really big yellow building, with lots of warm and cold thermal baths and also some saunas. It was fun to see and a great experience, but it wasn’t really my thing. After the baths, we visited the Heroes Square and a market. We did some shopping and in the evening we went to the biggest ruin club/pub in Budapest.

Our last full day in Budapest we went to the Buda side. It has hills, with a lot of beautiful building on top of the hills, and you have an amazing view on the Parlement and over the rest of the city. We wandered around there, it was amazing.

For dinner we ate at a fancy Italian restaurant. Really nice.

That was already our last day, the next day we flew back home. I had a great time in Budapest. It is a fun city and there is a lot to explore. I am really happy that srprs.me sent us there! The flight and accommodation were also really good, we had a great hostel and it was in the middle of the city.

Thank you so much for visiting, and I wish you all a lovely day xx

Purple Smokey Eyes | MOTD

IMG_5738 (2).JPG

It’s been such a long time since I posted an MOTD! I haven’t been wearing makeup that much anymore, but a few days ago I really got the urge to play around with eyeshadows. The look ended up to be a purple smokey eye, all colors from the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette. I love that palette way too much, it’s the one that I use most for MOTD’s on the blog! I will tell you have I’ve achieved this purple look.

IMG_572820170605_184651IMG_5739

IMG_5731.JPG

IMG_5730IMG_5741

FACE: Catrice Even Skintone Beautifying Foundation, Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer, Primark Cream Master Contour Palette, Maybelline Matte Me Powder, Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette (contour and highlighter) and Freedom Blush Palette

EYEBROWS: NYX Tame&Frame Brow Pomade

EYES: Almost all the colors are from the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, only the transition shade is the color Sweet Shop from the I Heart Makeup Naked Chocolate Palette.

  • Crease – Dark Truffle (Too Faced)
  • Eyelid – Black Currant (Too Faced)
  • Inner Corner and Brow Bone – Satin Sheets (Too Faced)

NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner Pen, Essence Eyeliner Pen, and NYC Big Bold Mascara.

LIPS: Combination NYX Lingerie in Embelishment and NYX Soft Matte Lipcream in Istanbul. (just as in this MOTD)

20170605_180337

And that’s the finished look! Not really a summer MOTD, but the purple makes the smokey eye less dark. Perfect for a fancy dinner or party!

Hope you liked it! It made me really happy to play with all my makeup again so there will be coming more makeup related posts again. I like OOTD’s, travel diaries and food, but makeup will always be the main subject on my blog. I just love it too much!

Lots of love xxxx
