Impressive Angkor Wat | Travel Diary

My last three days in Siem Reap I went to visit the Angkor Wat temples.

SUNDAY – DAY 1

First day of Angkor Wat! The evening before I met a girl in my hostel with whom I’m going to Angkor Wat for three days. In the morning we rented some bikes and bumped into this guy from our hostel. Eventually we ended up going with the three of us, that was great!

We first had to go to the ticket center, where we had to take a picture and got our own personal ticket for Angkor Wat. It was still the Khmer New Year and all the Cambodians went to the temples. The roads were crowded, full with trucks with people in the back who were shooting at everyone with their water guns. Very refreshing as it was 35 degrees again. There were also lots of parties and festivals going on around the temples.

All the temples were so impressive and beautiful. The most famous one is Angkor Wat, and ofcourse that one was really crowded. The funny thing was that the whole temple complex was mostly full with Cambodians. We were mostly the only western people there. I loved it! We already saw so much and had so many impressions and this was only the first day!

MONDAY – DAY 2

We had to wake up really early in the morning because our tuktuk driver came pick us up at 4.30 in the morning. Crazy early, but the sunrise was is worth it. I’ve never seen a sunrise in my life (as in waking up early for it and sitting down to see it in peace), it was one of the best experiences in my life. It was wonderfull how you slowly saw the sun coming and how you felt the temperature rising. I don’t understand why I’ve never done it before because it is so magical, beautiful and amazing. (Ps, probably because I love sleeping too much)

After the sunrise we went back to our tuktuk driver. We couldn’t find him at first, but after a while we found the guys sleeping in this hammock. I need one too, it looked really comfortable.

We visited loads of temples, honestly I can’t really remember which because I only had like 4 hours of sleep and was so tired. But they were all really beautiful and I loved it. We did the big tour, with a few temples from the small tour so we had seen all the highlights from Angkor Wat. We’ve all so visited some temples that weren’t so touristic (also maybe because it was 7 in the morning ). It is all just so impressive, but I hope that pictures say more than words. I especially loved the jungle Indiana Jones temple, but sadly everyone loved that one so it was really crowded. Still definitely one of my favorites.

We came back in the afternoon and after some naps we had some street food at my favorite street food lady. She is an amazing cook.

I also got this beautiful henna tattoo, I love it. In the evening we did some cocktails and went out with two guys that we met in the hostel and went to Angkor Wat with on the first day. It was so funny, we ended up in the club with only Cambodians. Really blending in here.

TUESDAY – DAY 3

My last day in Cambodia! In the morning/noon we went to the market for some shopping. We had some great bargain deals.

In the afternoon we went to Angkor Wat again to see the sunset at the Phnom Bakheng temple. Loads of people wanted to there, and they only allow 300 people to go up. So we had to wait for a long time, kind of already gave up that we would see it. Luckily a few people came down and we could get up! It was quite cloudy, but still really beautiful. I love sunsets, but the sunrise was still the best thing ever.

In the evening I had dinner for the last time at my favorite street food place.  Loved how she keeps recognising me, going to miss my food women. She was amazing.

After that we went to the night market, you can say I’m quite addicted to markets. I like it, but my bank account doesn’t haha.

Well that was my Asian adventure.  Wednesday morning I’m flying back home.

I will write a diary about my journey home, and also about my favorite moments and experiences. I’m really happy that I did it, and so greatfull that I had the possibility to experience something so amazing like this. It’s been a week or so since I’m home, yes I am really lazy with writing, but I’m missing it already.

I hope you enjoyed all my travel diary posts about my journey. I definitely did and I’m happy that I have lots posts to read back to.

Thank you for visiting! Hope you have an amazing day 🙂 xxxxxx

COCONUT OIL IS THE ANSWER

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor coconut oil quotes funny

I’ve seen this photo so many times on facebook now, that I just had to share my experience with coconut oil. Indeed, it’s amazing and is a solution for so many things! However, coconut oil is not my whole life or someting like that, I mean some people use it for everything. There are a lot of health benefits and other benefits of coconut oil  to be found all over the internet, but I never really tried this. (maybe I should?) In this post I will tell you my tips and experience with coconut oil.

HAIR MASK

Coconut oil is so rich and oily, it’s perfect as a hair mask. It makes your hair really soft and shiney. I always brush my hair out, scoop some coconut oil out of my jar and warm it up in my hands above my head (so that the dripping oil falls on my head instead of on the floor), I devide it in my hair and leave it in for 30 minutes minimal. The longer the better. When washing it out, I only use shampoo. I have to wash it more than once before all the oil is out of my hair. (I mentioned this before in my post about my hair care routine.:) )

MAKEUP REMOVER

It also can be used as a makeup remover for your whole face, or only the eyes. I like it remove my eyemakeup with coconut oil. The grease works very good for removing mascara and eyeliner.

MOISTURIZER

Coconut oil is perfect to moisturize your dry legs, knees, elbows, lips and even cuticles. It makes your skin so soft, and it smells lightly like coconut but it’s mostly odorless.

COOKING

We used to use coconut oil to bake our meat and vegetables. It works really well! The only disadvantage is that coconut oil is hard when it’s cold, so you always have to scoop it out. I personally find it easier when cooking oil is liquid, so I prefer olive oil more to cook with.

These are my tips and what I use coconut oil for. There are a lot more things where you can use it for though, for example: as a shaving cream, oil pulling, to eat (it seems to be very good for you health). Sadly I can’t tell you if it really works, maybe I should try it out…

What are you experiences with coconut oil?

Thank you so much for visiting, have a lovely day!

GAP YEAR UPDATE + THANK YOU!

screenshot_20170112-091718-2

First of all, when I woke up a few days ago I got this mention from WordPress that I reached 100 followers on my blog. I am so proud! I want to thank everyone who visits and reads my blog, who write all these lovely comments and ofcourse all the people that decided to follow my blog. Thank you so much! When I started this blog in September 2016, it was mainly to improve my English and to do something in my gap year. My love for makeup and beauty made me also write about that. I’ve never thought I would even get one follower or reader, but now a few months later my blog has grown so much. It’s amazing!

Well the other thing in the title is “Gap Year Update”. In the very beginning of my blog I wrote this post about a gap year and my experience so far. At that time I had no idea what to do with my life, I did not know what I wanted to follow in college, if I could work more, what I would do in my spare time and most important thing was that I did not want to waiste my year.

Now, three months later, I am almost half way through my gap year. I’ve been blogging every two days, I’ve worked a lot, I went to the gym a lot and I finally planned my travel adventure. In March I am going to South Asia. I’m going to visit Thailand and Vietnam for sure, but I also like to go to Cambodia. I’m so happy and excited. Also a bit nervous, even though I’m travelling in a group. But I am also looking forward to it! When it gets closer I will write some more about my plans.

In my previous gap year post I also made sort of a list of things I want to learn and to this year:

This year I want to use for getting experience (with work and volunteer work abroad), learning something new ( I want to learn a language of maybe to be a MUA), getting stronger ( physically and mentally), getting independent (maybe by backpacking or travelling), be more confident, doing everything I have to do to attend the study I want to, but most important of all: getting and being the best version of myself I can be at that moment. And that’s a lot, I know, but I’m working on it to achieve all of it.

Let’s see what I’ve achieved so far!

  1. Getting experience with work an volunteer work abroad – I didn’t do volunteer work abroad, and I’m also not planning on doing it. But I got experience with work. I worked a lot more and also I’ve done some temporarily work.
  2. Learning something new (for example a language or MUA) – Didn’t do any of them. I’m going to do a makeup workshop in a few weeks though and I got this Spanish cours for Christmas, so this is still in progress. However I feel like my English has improved, that was also one of the main reasons to start a blog.
  3. Getting independent – Haven’t travelled on my own yet, but I undertook some other things on my own so I’m working on it.
  4. Be more confident – I’m definetly more confident than I was, especially because of my blog, I mean everyone can read what I think and see my photos. First I was scared of it, but now I am proud of my blog!
  5. Getting into college – This is also still in progress. I found the course I want to follow (Optometry) and I also applied. Now I’m waiting for the result if I can attent the selection to get in.
  6. Getting and being the best version of myself – Well Daisy that is very vague. Can’t say if I am a better person now than I was a few months ago. Let’s hope so.
It’s fun and nice to see what I’ve done so far. I understand if someone is like, uh I don’t care about this. That’s okay, I wrote this mostly for myself, but I love to share it with you all.

Thank you for reading and visiting my blog! Have a lovely day xx

Go Alone

received_1049992518399259

Hi everyone,

Since I have a gap year, I have a lot of time. Of course I have my job and write for my blog, but I still have a lot of time. I realised that there are a lot of activities that you can do on your own! On the one hand it can be strange in the beginning, but on the other hand you see that you do not need another person to do fun things with and that it is fine to do things on your own. Personally I do not mind going shopping on my own, I see it as ‘me time’ and every person needs me time! That you undertake activities on your own does not mean you are lonely, you are just an independert human being. I will list my favorite alone activities down below!

Shopping

I love shopping on my own. Especially because I can stay in the stores as long as I want to and go to the stores that I want to all at ease. The only disadvantage for me is that I am very doubtful and really love having a second opinion.

Go for a walk

This is also a perfect activity to do on your own. You can just enjoy the nature around you, have deep thoughts or of course just think about nothing.

Go to the gym

When I first started going to the gym I never wanted to go on my own. I always went with a friend because I just did not like going alone. But now, I go on my own all the time. I mean you go to the gym for yourself right, not for anyone else.

Movies

Most of the time people go watch a movie together, but why could you not go on your own? I did it once (One Direction This is Us haha, no one wanted to go with me so I decided I would just go alone) and it was not weird at all. If there is a movie that you really want to see but there is no one who wants to go with you, just go alone and enjoy the movie.

Theater

This is almost the same as the movies. Why not? Shortly I am going to try this one for the first time!

Travel

This is a very good activity to get independent! It scares me a bit to go travel alone, but it is also a great experience. And remember you don’t have to go to a far destination, you can also do a day city trip in your own county or a weekend city trip.

Dinner

I have never done this, but going out dining on your own is also great. Maybe it feels weird in the beginning, because it is not ‘normal’, but I do not see the problem. Just do it if you want to!

Clubbing

Once I have read that there are people who go clubbing on their own. I would not really try this because I am just not a person for clubbing, let alone on my own haha.

Well that is everything for so far. Ofcourse there is a lot more, like reading a good book, watching series in bed and baking cookies! It may seem weird or scary for the first time, but maybe you enjoy it when you try it. You never know!

Thank you very much for reading and have a nice day!
